Hi, I’m Natalie!
I started working in hospitality at 15 and became a manager at 20. Now, 20 years later, I’ve spent nearly my entire working life inside this industry. So when I say I understand the chaos of hospitality, I mean it. I’ve lived it.
I’ve led teams, fixed operational messes, worked the long weeks, had the uncomfortable conversations, and watched really great managers work themselves into the ground trying to keep everything together.
I was one of those managers.
I genuinely believed that if you gave it your all and sacrificed enough of yourself, eventually everything would become that magical thing you hoped for when you first received the title of “manager.”
Reality gave me the hardest check I’d ever receive.
Because there comes a point in your management career where you start believing that if you change the team enough, fix the systems enough, and apply enough pressure, everything will finally work the way it should.
And part of that is true.
But I also learned that being a better manager wasn't about seeing how much more I could take on.
It was about looking at my team and asking, Who here can do something better than me? Who has more to offer? Who can I bring in so this workplace works better for all of us?
That became one of my biggest strengths as a manager.
Because the answer to burnout isn't running as lean as possible, piling everything else onto the manager, and seeing how long everyone can keep up.
It's bringing people up with you.
It's giving your team room to grow, trusting them with more, recognizing what they're good at, and building a workplace where the responsibility doesn't live on one person's shoulders.
And yes, that means the manager has to change too.
Not by giving more.
By leading differently.
That's what The Turnaround is about.
I want to show managers how to stop giving so much of themselves to the job and start building up the people around them—because when the manager grows and the team grows with them, the entire workplace gets better.
I'm tired of this industry's obsession with running people into the ground, running as lean as possible, and expecting the manager to pick up whatever is left.
That's not the way forward anymore.
I want to turn this industry around and change the mindset from “How much can we get out of people?” to “How do we all rise up to be better, do better, and make this workplace better?”
That's The Turnaround. And that's what I'm here to do.
